Industry accreditation, also known as grandfather rights to date has allowed has allowed operatives to gain a CSCS Card on the back of an employers recommendation rather than them achieving a recognised qualification such as an NVQ. CSCS originally closed the route of people gaining a CSCS Card through this route in 2010 but allowed those that already had a card under this scheme to renew as normal.
From the 1st January 2020, all cards renewed under grandfather rights will expire on the 31st December 2024 and CSCS will stop issuing the card from the 30th June 2024. The change in scheme rules adds to CSCS withdrawing the Construction related occupation card and the Construction site visitor card.
