On the 3rd of July 2020, Eastern Region Training will be supporting the World of Work Day at Chantry Academy.
A future career seems a long way off for most primary age children. Making a connection between what they learn in primary school and the jobs they might one day pursue can be beyond their understanding, particularly for children from challenging back-grounds where unemployment is high and aspirations are low. Every young person deserves to access opportunities, regardless of background.
Primary Schools in the IP2 area of Ipswich will be introducing a ’World of Work’ experience to children in Year 5, (9-10 years of age). This will involve 7 primary schools taking part in carousel style workshops. With a 10 minute question and answering sessions to be delivered to groups of approximately 8 children. Eastern Region Training are supporting this event by volunteering 3 members of staff for the day, a Roofing Tutor, First Aid Instructor and Forklift instructor to provide talks and practical demonstrations to the students.
