The HSE recommends that anyone who carries out work that involves the use of a face-mask should have that mask fit-tested. This is to ensure it is suitable and sufficient for their face and that it protects against what it should be protecting against. Hence face fit testing training.
There are 2 sorts of face fit testing
What is face fit testing training? There are two types of face fit testing, the qualitative and the quantitative face fit testing. The qualitative fit test is mostly used for half face masks such as an FFP3 disposable and involves individuals going through a series of tests wearing their mask to ensure that the mask is working for them. The quantitative fit-test is mostly used for full face masks and works by a machine checking to see the leakage of the mask across the seal. Both face fit tests are there to make sure your mask works for you and is doing its job.
Why take the train the trainer face fit testing training?
Why take a train the trainer face fit testing training course? To start with, it can be more cost-effective to have one or two persons learn how to conduct the face fit testing than it is to have all of your staff tested one by one. Rather than paying for all of your staff each year to do the face fit testing training. Your designated fit-tester could test them instead! Another benefit is that the course is fully certificated, so it shows your company is health & safety conscious and aware of the legislation surrounding respiratory equipment.
The train the trainer face fit training course lasts for 1 day, during this time you will be taught the theoretical knowledge needed to take away with you so that you understand why we fit-test along with the practical skills to be able to conduct your own fit-test. Each attendee can be supplied with a face fit testing kit if needed for the course although it is not imperative as we have our own here that they can use for the days training.
