We are delighted to have welcomed a new cohort of apprentices onto the new Roof Slate & Tile standard!
Under the standard, the new group of apprentices will be doing things a bit differently than before. They will still be learning how to carry out plain tile installation, slating and lead work, but instead of working towards a diploma and NVQ over the next two years, they will be ‘end point assessed’. This means that in 18 months after starting on programme, an independent roofing assessor will visit the apprentices on site to observe them work, and ultimately decide whether they have gained skills to gain their level 2 standard in roofing.
We are working more collaboratively than ever before with employers to ensure that students get a full, individualised apprenticeship, which gives them the confidence and skills to complete a variety of roofing tasks to a high standard.
We have a new intake starting in March 2021, so please get in touch if you would like to take on an apprentice roofer on the new standard pathway. We are very excited to welcome more learners to our training centre.
